Powder Room - Before and After

Here is my powder room before I decided what I could do with it. I first bought the mirror, then I knew I had to do something with the worn out white color on the walls but I did like the blue cabinet which matches the cabinets in my laundry room which is next to this room.

My nephew, Clint, painted the room for me. I chose the salmon color for the walls and a blue on the door to complement the cabinet. Clint did a great job cutting in the ceiling and painting the room.

My sister,Juli, help pick out the paint color and she and Cole oversaw the progress.

Juli and I traveled to Round Top, Texas for the Antique show in October. That is where I bought the Peruvian niche with the saint pictured above and below.

You can catch a glimpse of the newly painted blue door in the mirror.

Now I really enjoy the look of this room and appreciate all the help to get it this way.

Contemplating a visit to Paris

Paris is without a doubt one of the most beautiful cities on the planet. With so much to see and do, renting one of the many Paris apartments may be the perfect way to enjoy the city. Having the time to enjoy this fantastic location like a true Parisian would be an unforgettable experience. I have visited Paris before but stayed only a few days in a hotel near the Champs Elysees.  I would love to go back and attempt to live like a true Parisian, shopping for groceries at the markets, buying flowers for my dinner table, and sitting at an outdoor cafe having coffee.  Here are some pictures of a few rentals I have enjoyed.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! The new year has given me a travel itch -- a desire to be out exploring and discovering something new. It seems the beginning of the new year settles in almost unnoticed, but then I become detached from normal routines and it is with this traveler's mindset that I somehow find it easy to clear my head, reflect on what's passed, and set intentions for new beginnings from a simple place of discovery. There's nothing like the anticipation of planning an adventure.  I have a whole new year to fill, I can't wait to see what 2011 will bring. The thought of where my travels could take me is so preoccupying.

New Life to old Chairs

Don' t you just love these chairs. It is always amazing what fresh paint and new fabric can do. The first two pictures are chairs I have rescued from the trash. They both required a little work but look great now. I think they have many more good years in them.

This chair was found in Barcelona,Spain near a dumpster
with crooked legs and bad finish.

I found this chair on the side of the road
in the Hill Country of Texas painted white.

This chair was purchased at an auction and
just needed some TLC.

This chair has been in my husband's family
for years, it just needed new cane bottom.

Anticipation~Round Top Texas Antiques

This will be my first visit to Round Top and I am so excited to meet my sister Juli there to explore this Antique Show.  I hear antiques and collectible dealers set up along Round Top area highways.  We plan on visiting Marburger Farm where there are a variety of antiques ranging from early Texas to European, industrial to primitive, estate jewelry, painted furniture, fine art, silver and much to much to list.  Warrenton is another area we plan to visit.  There are many buildings, booths and fields to visit here.  I have posted some pictures of booths I have found from last year but I plan to post my own pictures of my great finds after my trip in early October.   For more information check out http://www.roundtop-marburger.com/. The show begins on September 28th.

Czechoslovakian Pottery

I have been collecting Czech pottery for over twenty five years. I love the vibrant colors and the hand painted designs. I traveled to Prague a couple of years ago in search of some pieces to add to my collection. I really enjoyed the antique stores in Prague. The search was as thrilling as actually locating a piece.
